The dreaded to-do list. It grows by the minute. By the hour. It is so easy to beat ourselves up when we don’t accomplish everything on that never-ending to-do list. But things happen. Illness, cars break down, a family member needs your attention. Life doesn’t just fall into a neat little series of boxes that can be checked off. And some days are harder than others. Especially if you suffer from chronic pain or depression. If you are grieving, in the middle of a stressful time at work or life is chaotic at home.
Take a few minutes and carry your list to God. Let Him have your burdens. All your worrying and striving won’t change anything — but He can. He can put it all into perspective. He will show you what’s possible and what’s necessary. You will do the best you can and then rest – in Him.
Give yourself credit for what you did accomplish. If you prayed, if you loved someone, if you listened, if you tried. It can be enough for today. You are enough in God’s eyes. He knows what you need and when you need to rest. So take a break from the to-do list. You have my permission. You have God’s permission.
